Jose Enrique has revealed he is helping Liverpool’s new Spanish signings Luis Alberto and Iago Apas settle in at Anfield.

The former Newcastle United defender has been on hand to help the duo acclimatise at the Merseyside outfit after Rodgers signed Alberto from Barcelona and Celta Vigo’s Aspas completed a switch to the Reds.

Enrique doesn’t follow La Liga as closely as the Premier League, but the 27-year-old hailed Alberto as a “very clever player”, while the left-back has been impressed by Aspas’ attitude.

“From the start they have been with me all the time and asking me things, which is normal,” Enrique told Liverpool’s website.

“I did it before with other players. I told them that if they need me for anything they have me here – I know at the start and when you change country, it’s difficult when you don’t know the language.”

He added: “Aspas did really well with Celta Vigo and scored a lot of goals. I saw a few games but I don’t really follow La Liga much; just my team Valencia, Levante, Madrid and Barcelona.

“I follow the Premier League more. But I know he’s doing really well and Luis Alberto did really well at Barcelona. Hopefully they will do well here.

“You can’t say much because training is physical now. We do a lot of work with the ball, but now it’s more physical. But you can see Aspas is a really clever player and a good guy as well, like Luis.”
