Man City transfers: Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido admits striker Álvaro Negredo is close to completing a move
Álvaro Negredo is close to completing a move to Manchester City, according to Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido.
The 27-year-old striker has been heavily linked with Premier League duo Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.
Negredo scored 25 goals and made one assist in 34 La Liga appearances last season, finishing behind Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao in the goal-scoring charts.
Sevilla manager Unai Emery has already signed Carlos Bacca and Raul Rusescu as replacements, and Del Nido expects Negredo to complete a move to the Premier League runners-up.
“We are about to close on the sale of the player and, if everything goes normally and everything is signed, he will soon say goodbye to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
“Manchester City are buying a great player, the top-scoring Spaniard in La Liga. This is a big deal for Sevilla, the second most important in our history after we sold (now-Barcelona full-back) Daniel Alves, and the player will sign the contract of his life.
“Everyone should be happy; it is a great deal for all three parties.”
