Man City transfers: Mathieu Flamini eyes Premier League return
Man City transfers: Former Arsenal star Mathieu Flamini is eyeing a Premier League return after failing to agree a new Milan deal
Mathieu Flamini says he would be open to a return to the Premier League amid speculation linking the midfielder with Manchester City.
The 29-year-old is currently out of contract after a five-year spell at the seven-time European champions following his departure from Arsenal in 2008.
The France international scored four goals and made one assist in 18 appearances for the Rossoneri last term, and Milan have rewarded the midfielder with a two-year deal.
However, Flamini looks set to leave Milan and wants to join a club that can challenge for silverware, with the Frenchman admitting he misses the Premier League.
“I’ve had some good offers but I want to take my time and decide what direction I will take,” Flamini told the Sun.
“What’s important is to be in a team which has a good project, good ambitions and abilities.
“I miss England and I want to win the Premier League. It has a special place in my heart. I like the pace and the physicality of English football, and I like that every game is very open.
“When you are a competitor, what you want is to be successful. And to be successful, you want to win trophies.”
He added: “Other countries are possible, too. I don’t want to close any doors.”
