Man City transfers: Oscar Cardozo's agent says the Benfica striker wants to remain in Portugal beyond the summer
Oscar Cardozo’s agent says the Benfica striker wants to stay at the club beyond the summer amid interest from Cardiff City and Manchester City.
The Paraguay international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Cardiff boss Malky Mackay a big fan of the South American.
The 30-year-old, who has a good record against Premier League clubs in the Champions League, scored 16 goals and made five assists in 25 appearances last season.
But Cardozo’s agent Pedro Aldave insisted the forward won’t be joining Cardiff this summer.
“Is he certain to join Cardiff next season? I am not aware of such information.
“Cardozo will be in Lisbon on 17th July to start pre-season training at Benfica, where he wants to stay.”
Cardozo has scored 161 goals in 260 appearances for Benfica after joining the club from Newell’s Old Boys in 2007.
