Man United transfers: Barcelona ‘will reject all bids for Cesc Fàbregas’
Man United transfers: New Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino tells Red Devils they have no chance of signing Cesc Fàbregas
Newly-appointed Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino has insisted that Manchester United have no chance of signing Cesc Fàbregas this summer because the player is not for sale.
The Red Devils have had three separate bids for the 26-year-old midfielder rejected by the La Liga champions, with David Moyes keen to lure the Spaniard to Old Trafford to bolster his midfield options.
However, United’s attempts to bring the former Arsenal captain back to the Premier League appear to be in vein after Martino moved to end the speculation over the Spain international’s future.
“Fàbregas is a top player and we are proud to have him here,” said Martino on Friday after being appointed as Tito Vilanova’s successor at Camp Nou on a two-year contract.
“It doesn’t matter what the offer from Manchester United is. We are counting on him.
“It is normal that many clubs are interested in Cesc, and that is a source of pride for us. But we will reject all bids.
“I won’t get involved in the economic interests of the club, but [if it’s up to me] we will have him [Cesc] here.”
Fàbregas completed a £35m move to Barcelona in August 2011 after spending eight seasons at Arsenal.
