Man United transfers: David Moyes targets ‘a few’ signings
Man United transfers: David Moyes reveals that he will try to make "a few" signings for the Red Devils this summer
David Moyes has revealed that he will try to make “a few” signings for Manchester United this summer.
The Scot officially began work as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor this week following his appointment at Old Trafford on a six-year contract.
United have only signed one player so far this summer after snapping up 20-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Guillermo Varela on a five-year contract last month.
And Moyes, who is said to be interested in bringing Thiago Alcantara and Leighton Baines to the club, is aiming to secure deals for a number of players before the start of the 2013-14 season.
“I will definitely continue the traditions of Manchester United, but I have to put my own stamp on the club,” said Moyes, who is thought to have around £60m to spend on transfers this summer.
“I’m very fortunate I’m taking over the champions of England, so that gives me a great start, better than most would get.
“I want to strengthen the squad, and I’ll try to make a few signings before our pre-season tour begins, but time is closing in on us now.”
