Man United transfers: David Moyes tight-lipped on Thiago speculation
Man United transfers: David Moyes is remaining tight-lipped on speculation linking Thiago Alcantara with a move to Old Trafford
David Moyes has remained tight-lipped on speculation linking Manchester United with a move for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The 22-year-old is expected to link up with his current team-mates for pre-season training after the young midfielder helped Spain win the European Under-21 championship in Israel last month.
The Red Devils, who appointed Moyes as Sir Alex Ferguson’s replacement, were reported to be weighing up a big-money offer to lure the highly-rated Spaniard to Old Trafford this summer.
However, the United manager stressed he has never singled out the Barcelona man as a potential summer target.
“I never said at any time he was,” said Moyes.
“There are people we are actively chasing and we are happy with the way things are going.”
Moyes has been linked with a host of midfielders this summer, including Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Everton dynamo Marouane Fellaini.
The 50-year-old Scot is yet to make a summer signing after he agreed to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at the Old Trafford helm.
