Man United transfers: PSV expect Kevin Strootman to stay ‘one more year’
Man United transfers: PSV Eindhoven technical director Marcel Brands says Kevin Strootman will remain at the club for another season
Kevin Strootman will stay at PSV Eindhoven for one more season, according to the Eredivisie runners-up.
The 23-year-old playmaker scored seven goals in 42 appearances last season as he fired PSV to cusp of a league title before losing out to defending champions Ajax.
Arsenal and Manchester United have been regularly linked with a swoop for the Netherlands international in recent months, and Strootman has previously indicated his interest in a move.
But PSV technical director Marcel Brands is adamant the midfielder won’t be leaving the club this summer and expects Strootman to remain at the Phillips Stadion for another season.
“Strootman we do not want to lose,” said Brands. “He knows himself he will stay one more year at PSV.”
In March, Strootman revealed he had not spoken to any clubs interested in acquiring his services and urged potential suitors to make an enquiry.
“Every transfer window there are clubs interested. But a club must speak to me first,” said Strootman.
The 23-year-old has scored 13 goals in 88 appearances for PSV after completing a move to the Eindhoven outfit from Utrecht in 2011.
