Man United should look to sign Cesc Fàbregas, says Bryan Robson
Former Manchester United midfielder Bryan Robson admits he is excited by the Red Devils being linked with Cesc Fàbregas
Bryan Robson believes Manchester United should be looking to sign former Arsenal captain Cesc Fàbregas.
The Spain international has failed to replicate his outstanding Gunners performances at Barcelona despite winning the La Liga title last season.
The 26-year-old, who joined in a £35m deal from Arsenal in 2011, scored 11 goals and made 11 assists for the Spanish champions during the campaign.
United had been linked with a potential shock swoop for Fàbregas, and former Red Devils skipper Robson would love to see the Spaniard at Old Trafford.
“We all have our favourites and who you would like to see come in,” Robson told Manchester Evening News.
“From my point of view I started to get excited when I heard about former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas possibly coming back to England and United were linked with him. He is the type of player I would look at.
“You have to look at the balance of the midfield and what Carrick gives you, what Cleverley and Anderson give you and then for me the type of player Fàbregas is is the one who would be
really good for United.
“He is a great footballer. He is entertaining to watch and creates and scores goals.
“He has had his time in England with Arsenal and knows what it is all about and could fit straight back in. But I don’t know what David Moyes’ plans are – we will just have to wait and see.”
