Don’t be fooled! Man United’s David Moyes working hard on new signings
Man United transfers: David Moyes says the Red Devils are working hard behind the scenes on a number of potential signings
David Moyes says Manchester United are working hard on a number of potentials signings despite the lack of activity at Old Trafford so far this summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of players in recent months, including Barcelona duo Thiago Alcântara and Cesc Fàbregas, while Everton defender Leighton Baines is also a reported target.
And Moyes, who was confirmed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor in May, revealed the Red Devils are working hard behind the scenes to strengthen the reigning Premier League champions’ squad.
“Man United will always be in for the best players in the world but we are also very interested in developing our own youth players and bringing in potential players for the future, so we are working on that just now,” Moyes told talkSPORT.
“Don’t be kidded because there is a bit of a lack of activity. Take it from me, we are working hard behind the scenes to try to improve the squad.”
The 50-year-old also admitted he feels priviledged to be given the chance to continue Ferguson’s legacy after the Red Devils legend retired following a 13th Premier League title last season.
“I’m really fortunate that Alex [Ferguson] has given me the champions of England. My job is to try and keep that going, maintain it and build on it. We are out there trying,” he added.
“I won’t talk about players at other clubs, I don’t think it is right, but I can tell you we are out there trying to do some business.”
