David Moyes insists Manchester United aren’t afraid of the spending power of cash-rich Ligue 1 sides Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils have already missed out on one of their reported top targets, Radamel Falcao, this summer after the Colombian joined Monaco in a big-money deal in June.

And Moyes, who replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in May, is yet to make a big-name signing in the current transfer window, failing to lure Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fàbregas to Old Trafford.

However, following 11 years of prudent spending at Everton, Moyes is confident United will always compete for the best players due to the stature of the Premier League champions.

“That is not something United are frightened of. United are more than happy to compete with all of the teams,” Moyes told Manchester Evening News.

“There has been a change in the dynamic because of PSG coming on the scene recently. That has altered things. But United will always compete.

“One thing it has got is the history. It has got the name. It has got the success. Players do want to be connected to that and one day say they have played for United.”
