Rio Ferdinand has revealed that life under David Moyes is proving tough as the Manchester United squad get to grips with the Scot’s management style.

The Red Devils are currently on their pre-season tour of the Far East, and Moyes has been putting his players through their paces ahead of the new campaign.

While Ferdinand attempted to avoid comparing Moyes to Sir Alex Ferguson, the 34-year-old centre-half hinted at a tough training regime.

“It is a bit too early to compare to life under Sir Alex Ferguson, but I think the intensity has gone up,” said Ferdinand.

“As a new manager comes in, the players want to impress the new coaching staff, but it has been very hard.

“There have been some double days, but generally it’s been fair.

“The lads have enjoyed it and that’s the most important thing. We’re getting into the new things asked of us and we’re really enjoying it. We want to make a good start to the season.”
