Robin van Persie says he is ready for the challenge of working with new Manchester United manager David Moyes.

The Netherlands international has linked up with the Red Devils squad who are currently touring the Far East, with the striker meeting Moyes for the first time.

Sir Alex Ferguson brought Van Persie to United from Arsenal in a £24m deal last summer, and the 29-year-old is relishing working under the former Everton boss.

“I came [over] a bit late,” Van Persie told United’s website.

“Yes, it was the first time I’d met David and the first time I spoke to him. He came across as really nice and I had a good [training] session yesterday.

“It is all new but sometimes it is good as well to have a new challenge and to work with new people with new ideas. It gives you a big challenge but I’m looking forward to it. Everyone
looks forward to it. The guys are working hard and I have to follow now.

“Every training [session] is a big challenge – especially now everyone starts again on zero and you have to earn your place again.”
