Napoli remind me of Liverpool, says Rafael Benítez
Napoli's new manager Rafael Benítez says the Serie A outfit reminds him of his old club Liverpool
Rafael Benítez says his new club Napoli remind the Spaniard of his former employers Liverpool.
The 53-year-old was appointed as the Naples outfit’s new head coach last month after leaving Chelsea following his spell as interim manager.
Benítez, who replaces Walter Mazzarri at Napoli, spent six seasons at Liverpool before his reign was brought to an end in 2010.
The Blues boss won the Champions League and FA Cup during his reign at Anfield, and Benítez reckons there are similarities between Napoli and the Reds.
“I accepted Napoli because there is such enthusiasm and passion,” Benitez told Minuto 116.
“I want to repay that faith on the field.
“The club has quality players and hunger to win, so reminds me of Liverpool.”
Benítez takes charge of Napoli after guiding Chelsea to their first Europa League title, while the west London side finished third in the Premier League behind Manchester United and Manchester City.
