Newcastle transfers: Alan Pardew keen to add to squad
Newcastle transfers: Alan Pardew insists he is keen to bolster his squad and says no top players will leave the club on the cheap
Alan Pardew has reassured Newcastle United fans that he is intent on bolstering his squad this summer – and says that none of the Magpies’ star players will leave the club unless a bid “blows the doors off” St James’ Park.
A number of Newcastle’s top players have been linked with transfers away from the club in recent weeks, including the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Cheick Tiote, Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse.
However, the 51-year-old Pardew insists he is focused on adding to his squad this summer, with Newcastle having been reported to be preparing swoops for Darren Bent and Loic Remy since the end of the season.
“I feel we are in a strong position financially to hold on to our players,” Pardew told the Chronicle.
“We have players under long-term contracts here. Hopefully we can add to that.
“If one of our top players goes, it will be a bid that blows the doors off [the stadium]. That’s it.”
