Alan Pardew has confirmed that Newcastle United are interested in signing both Darren Bent and Loic Remy this summer.

The Magpies boss is aiming to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season following Demba Ba’s departure to Chelsea back in January.

Newcastle, who finished 16th last season, have been linked with both the Aston Villa front-man and Queens Park Rangers striker in recent days.

And the 51-year-old has confirmed that both players are on his list of St James’ Park transfer targets this summer.

“Both of those players are on our list,” Pardew told the Northern Echo when asked about Bent and Remy. “I make no bones about that.

“We do need two strikers. Last year, I didn’t think there was enough competition in that area for a Premier League team.

“But they are under contract at other clubs. It’s difficult, you have to be careful. It’s nice for our fans to hear names, but I don’t want to disrupt other clubs’ preparations.”
