Philippe Coutinho believes Liverpool’s summer signings can help the club finish in the top four next season.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has been busy in the transfer market after snapping up Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Simon Mignolet and Kolo Toure already this summer.

Liverpool finished in a disappointing seventh place last season, and Brazil international Coutinho is optimistic about the club’s chances of securing Champions League football.

“Some new players have arrived to help us and the team finished well last year, so we hope to be able to finish within the top four,” Coutinho told Liverpool’s website.

“That’s what we have always fought for, but we should think on a game-by-game basis because the competition is very long and we have to sustain good performances throughout the whole season.”

The 21-year-old also revealed he enjoys working with Rodgers, heaping praise on the manager’s training sessions which are focused on improving his squad’s technical ability.

“That’s important. The manager likes it a lot that the ball is in all of the training sessions.

“We’re always with the ball and always playing technically, so it’s important for us because we’re getting familiar with it and little by little we introduce it into the field.”
