Gareth Bale has revealed his desire to play in another league amid continuing speculation about the Tottenham star’s future.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a transfer away from White Hart Lane following Spurs’ failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Real Madrid have emerged as the front-runners to secure the Wales international’s signature should he choose to quit north London.

Now, Bale has revealed that he is a big fan of Spanish football and is keen to test himself in another league at some point in his career.

“Obviously, I’d like to try other leagues in the future,” Bale told Esquire magazine.

“Every player would like to get as high as they can and try different things.

“It’s something that the future holds and it’s something that I’m very interested to try in the least.”

The PFA player of the year added: “I probably prefer Spanish football to the others. It’s very technical the way they play, they keep the ball well and whenever Spurs have played against Spanish teams in the past they’ve always made it difficult for us.

“So I’d say that Spanish football is probably the best I’ve seen.”
