Tottenham transfers: ‘Mario Gómez wants to join Fiorentina’
Tottenham transfers: Bayern Munich director of sport Matthias Sammer reveals Mario Gómez wants to join Fiorentina
Bayern Munich director of sport Matthias Sammer has revealed Mario Gómez does want to join Fiorentina this summer amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Germany international appears set to leave the Champions League holders this summer after struggling to hold down a regular starting spot in the Bayern side.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his attacking options, with Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe currently the only recognised front-men at the club.
And Bayern’s Sammer insisted Gómez would not be allowed to leave the club unless Fiorentina match the Champions League winners’ asking price.
“If the conditions are not right, then it’s just not going to work,” Sammer told Sport1.
“As long as our wishes remain unfulfilled, nothing is going to happen. But Mario wants to go to Fiorentina.”
Gómez has 113 goals in 174 appearances for Bayern after completing a move to Allianz Arena from Stuttgart in 2009.
