Arsenal 2 Fenerbahce 0: Ramsey keen to see ‘one or two’ signings
Arsenal 2 Fenerbahce 0: Aaron Ramsey calls on Arsene Wenger to bring in "one or two" new signings before next week's deadline
Aaron Ramsey has called on Arsene Wenger to bring in “one or two” new signings before next week’s transfer deadline to boost Arsenal’s chances of competing for silverware this season.
Much has been made of the Gunners’ lack of spending in the current transfer window, with 20-year-old French striker Yaya Sanogo the only player to have arrived at Emirates Stadium so far this summer.
And Ramsey, who scored both goals as Arsenal secured a 2-0 win over Fenerbahce to book their place in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday, would like to see some new arrivals before Monday’s deadline.
“We have a lot of quality in the team but maybe we’re a bit short on numbers,” Ramsey told ITV1.
“That’s what teams like Manchester City and Manchester United have done ever so well over the last few years – rotate.
“Maybe we’re a bit short. But we have a lot of quality and hopefully there will be one or two additions to strengthen the squad, which we can use to rotate and help us push on.”
Ramsey continued his impressive run of form as he struck a goal either side of the break to secure a 5-0 aggregate triumph over the Turkish side.
And the 22-year-old Wales international feels he is gradually getting his confidence back after his horrific leg break back in 2010.
“I’m enjoying myself out there and I’m confident at the moment,” he continued.
“After the injury I had, it takes a bit of time to get over mentally, but I think that’s behind me now and I’m starting to enjoy myself again and show people what I’m capable of doing.”
He added: “Obviously it was nice to get on the scoresheet, which is quite enjoyable. But I thought we defended ever so well.”
