Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal’s results will not affect his transfer plans and says he know “exactly” what he wants to do before the close of the window.

The Gunners bounced back from their shock defeat by Aston Villa last weekend with an impressive 3-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage following their triumph over Fenerbahce in midweek.

Much has been made of Arsenal’s lack of spending in the current window, with 20-year-old French striker Yaya Sanogo the only player to arrive at Emirates Stadium so far.

Arsenal had a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye rejected by the Magpies last week and have also failed in their pursuit of Liverpool forward Luis Suárez.

But Wenger says his recruitment plans have not changed in the face of recent results, and is still hoping to strengthen before the 2 September deadline.

Asked if results could alter his transfer plans, Wenger replied: “No. We will be a bit less under media pressure maybe but that will not change exactly. I know exactly what I want to do and that will not change.

“It’s possible [Arsenal could strengthen before next weekend]. Honestly, I’m not the only one that can decide that because the clubs who sell the players [are involved too].

“We are on the market, you know that. I know we expect news from us. We will try to give you some but at the moment [there is] nothing to announce.”
