Olivier Giroud admits he is already looking forward to Arsenal’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium next weekend.
The France international scored the opener on Saturday as the Gunners ran out 3-1 winners at Fulham to pick up their first Premier League points of the season.
And the 26-year-old says he is “feeling good”, with Arsenal set to host Fenerbahce in the return leg of their Champions League play-off on Tuesday before next Sunday’s derby.
“It’s a great victory because we needed it after a bad start at home [against Aston Villa],” Giroud, who scored his third goal in as many games at Craven Cottage, told Arsenal Player.
“We did well, scored early in the game, so after we could play our game and dictate it.
“I always wanted to improve myself and I feel very good on the pitch – that is the most important thing. I always wanted to make the team win. We feel good and we really want to keep going.
“It could be a very big game, the north London derby, so I look forward to that.
“But we need to finish the job against Fenerbahce and after we could play with the feeling of finishing the Champions League job.
“We deserve it [to be in the group stage] and we really want to be confident and strong at the beginning of the season. It’s so important to keep a small distance between us and the first-placed team.”
He added: “I feel more confident. I scored 11 goals in 11 games so I feel good. I just enjoy my good form and I wanted to carry on and keep it up. I feel good in the team and I think it could be our season. Why not?”
