David Moyes has once again told Chelsea to forget about signing Wayne Rooney this summer as he reiterated that the Manchester United striker is not for sale.

Speculation has been rife about the 27-year-old’s future in recent weeks after the Blues had two bids for the striker instantly turned down by United.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho reportedly riled United officials earlier this week by saying that the Blues are preparing a third offer for the England international – but that the west London club will wait until after Monday’s trip to Old Trafford before making their next move.

But Moyes insisted that United’s stance has not changed when quizzed about Rooney’s situation in a news conference on Friday.

“We’ve told you, haven’t we?” Moyes replied when asked whether Chelsea were wasting their time pursuing Rooney. “So I hardly need to repeat it again. It doesn’t need to be said.”

Moyes went on to insist that he was pleased to see Mourinho back in the Premier League, despite the Portuguese coach’s public pursuit of Rooney since arriving back at Stamford Bridge.

He added: “I really like Jose. He’s one of the new era of modern managers and he’s had great success. I’ve not seen him for a long time, so I’m looking forward to seeing him at Old Trafford.”
