Fernando Torres: Chelsea ‘thinking positive’ after Jose Mourinho return
Fernando Torres says Chelsea are "thinking positive" following Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge this summer
Fernando Torres says Chelsea can “think positive” following Jose Mourinho’s return to the club as they gear up for their Premier League opener against Hull City.
Mourinho will return to the Stamford Bridge dugout for the first time since he left the club in 2007 on Sunday when the Blues take on the newly-promoted Tigers.
And Torres says the Chelsea squad are in optimistic spirits heading into the new season, but warned his team-mates not to get too far ahead of themselves as they look to challenge for the league title.
“Hull will want to win and be positive, but they won’t want to go crazy and be exposed and concede goals, so we will need to show character from the first minute,” Torres told Chelsea’s website.
“But we know the fans will be behind us with Jose Mourinho back and we can think positively.”
The Spaniard added: “We will see what happens [in the title race].
“Three top teams in the Premier League have changed managers and I think it will be even more difficult for all of us, because you need a bit of time to adapt. I think we have the same chances, and to start well will be key.
“It [winning the league] one of the main targets and we will see what happens, but we have to go game by game and not think nine months ahead of ourselves.”
