Robin van Persie scored either side of half-time to secure a 2-0 victory over Wigan Atheltic and win David Moyes’ first piece of silverware as Manchester United manager.

The Netherlands international nodded past Wigan goalkeeper Scott Carson in the sixth minute before the striker’s deflected effort sealed a Community Shield triumph at Wembley.
