Frank Lampard and Oscar both scored as Jose Mourinho made a winning return to Stamford Bridge courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Hull City.

The Brazil international broke the deadlock in the 13th minute after a threaded pass from debutant Kevin de Bruyne before Frank Lampard sealed three points with a long-range free-kick.

Here is a selection of our favourite tweets from the professionals, both currently playing and retired, in chronological order to the Happy One’s triumphant return.

Norwich City legend Darren Huckerby‏(@hucks6dh6) isn’t impressed with McGregor’s foul on Torres before hailing the goalkeeper’s save: “Shocking keeping! … Brilliant keeping! #SuperSunday”

Leicester City striker David Nugent (‏@nuge101235) can only see this game going one way: “Gone for 4-0 Chelsea!”

West Brom defender Garath McCleary (‏@gmccleary12) is left in awe by Chelsea’s attacking players: “Chelsea’s movement is very good, the three behind the front man will be a problem #oscar #hazard #debrunye #shadows”

Back to the goalkeeper expert (‏@hucks6dh6): “Great strike but keeper should save it #SuperSunday”

Huckerby has support from former Ipswich Town midfielder Matt Holland (‏@mattholland8): “Great strike from Lampard but McGregor has got to save that!!”

And ex-Aston Villa midfielder Ian Taylor ‏(@IanTaylor7) agrees: “Booooom!! What’s the keeper doing???? 2-0 #Chelsea #Lampard #flappinghell”

England batsman Kevin Pietersen ‏(@KP24) is delighted to see a Chelsea legend score: “#Lampard is a GUN! #fact”

And Jordan Stewart (‏@jordanstewart3) describes the sound effects: “Powwwwwwwwww!!!! #Lampard”

Former Blues midfielder Jody Morris (‏@morriskid) hails Chelsea’s Brazilian playmaker: “Oscar having a top game.”

But former Middlesbrough star Jan Aage Fjortoft ‏(@JanAageFjortoft) is hoping to see another playmaker grace the Stamford Bridge turf: “Schürrle on the bench for Chelsea. Sure he will play his part during the game. De Bruyne in starting line-up #CFC”

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann ‏(@DietmarHamann) is enjoying Chelsea’s performance: “Chelsea very good to watch. Oscar, De Bruyne and Hazard causing havoc for Hull’s defence. Torres started well finished the half poorly… I’m surprised none of the bigger clubs picked up Huddlestone. Very fine player.”

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen ‏(@themichaelowen) has his say on Hull’s goalkeeper: “Mixed bag for McGregor. Mistakes to concede a penalty and let in second goal but he made great save for penalty and a world-class save approaching half-time.”

Ex-Hull City midfielder George Boateng ‏(@george1boateng) feels for his old club: “Tough game to start with for @hullcityteam, a lot of teams will concede many goals there but Hull need to put this game behind them quick!”

Aston Villa legend Paul McGrath (‏@Paulmcgrath5) is impressed by the temperament of his former team-mate’s side: “Chelsea beat Hull. Good weekend for me! Fair play to Hull and Brucie showed a lot of heart!”

Finally, Arsenal fan Piers Morgan (‏@piersmorgan) is still wallowing in self-pity: “Whatever the opposite of being a Barca fan is,
that’s how I feel right now. #afc #misery”
