Jack Wilshere eyes ‘good run of games’ for Arsenal and England
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere says he wants to get a regular run of games under his belt after an injury-hit couple of seasons
Jack Wilshere has set his sights on getting a “good run of games” under his belt with Arsenal and England.
The 21-year-old has endured an injury-hit couple of seasons as the midfielder suffered reoccurring ankle injuries which hampered his progress at both club and international level.
However, Wilshere successfully navigated Arsenal’s pre-season campaign without any setabcks and the midfielder is looking forward to cementing his place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad.
“My England career has been a bit stop start, and that is frustrating,” said Wilshere.
“But, now that I have had a good pre-season, hopefully I can stay fit and get a good run of games with Arsenal, and then with England to help with the (World Cup) qualifiers.”
Wilshere expects Scotland to pose a tough test on Wednesday ahead of England’s must-win World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine in September.
“We’re expecting a tough start,” Wilshere added. “It’ll be almost like a Premier League game in terms of intensity, there’ll be tackles flying in.
“It’s a friendly game but there’s never a friendly between England and Scotland, and we’ll be up for it as well.”
