Jack Wilshere admits he is already looking forward to Arsenal’s north London derby clash with Tottenham in September.

The Gunners take on their local rivals at Emirates Stadium on 1 September in their third Premier League game after clashes against Aston Villa and Fulham.

And the 21-year-old midfielder is hoping Arsene Wenger’s men can improve their record against the top teams this season after analysing the fixture list.

“Yeah, we do [look at the fixture list before the season starts],” Wilshere told a Q&A session on Thursday at Emirates Stadium.

“The ones that stands out are Tottenham at home and away, and then the big ones like Man United and Man City away. Hopefully this year we can improve our record against them.

“Christmas is a busy time so we look at who we are playing then, and also at the run-in. This year it worked out quite well – we have the first game at home which is good.

“Hopefully we can have a sharp start to the season and really put ourselves up there and see where we are at the end.”
