Liverpool transfers: ‘Reds would be delighted to keep Luis Suárez’

Liverpool transfers: Roy Evans believes the Reds would be "delighted" to keep Luis Suárez at Anfield beyond the summer

Roy Evans believes Liverpool would be “delighted” to keep Luis Suárez at Anfield beyond the summer, as long as he shows commitment to the Reds’ cause.

The 26-year-old’s future has been a relentless source of speculation this summer after he publicly reiterated his desire to leave the club in search of Champions League football.

Arsenal have so far had two bids for the striker rejected by Liverpool, who insist the player is not for sale.

And former Liverpool boss Evans feels that the Merseyside club would be pleased to welcome him back to the first-team fold – as long as his attitude is right.

“If he wants to say and he’s committed we’ll all be delighted because he’s a fantastic player,” Evans told talkSPORT.

“I don’t believe he’ll mess around because he loves playing football. But if he starts sucking the life out of your squad and dragging the players down then he’s got to go, because it’s no good having a player who’s not giving his all.

“But if he can play with the same enthusiasm as he has for the last two years that will be great because he’s been fantastic for us. I’m sure Liverpool will be delighted to keep him rather than take the money.”
