Gael Clichy says he is happy with Manchester City’s start to their Premier League campaign.

The France international was part of Manuel Pellegrini’s side which secured a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United at Etihad Stadium, propelling the Citizens to the top of the table.

City finished 11 points behind reigning champions Manchester United last season, and Clichy says the Eastlands outfit’s biggest test will be producing good performances away from The Etihad.

“When you play for a team like City you always want the three points,” said Clichy.

“The ideal game is to play attractive football, score goals and create chances but at the end of the day the most important thing is three points.

“On Monday night we did that, with the way we played as well. We can be happy with the result.

“It was a good performance defensively and offensively and hopefully we can carry on like this. It was a great game. Away from home it will be more difficult but it is a good way of starting the season.

“We are going to play like this from today to the last game.”
