Anderson insists he wants Manchester United to sign “better players” like Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fàbregas.

The Brazil international would be forced further down the pecking order if the Red Devils did succeed in their bid to sign the former Arsenal captain this summer.

The 25-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the United first-team in recent seasons following both fitness and form struggles at Old Trafford.

But former Porto midfielder Anderson would welcome the Spaniard at Old Trafford.

“Good,” Anderson told Manchester Evening News when asked about Fàbregas’ possible arrival.

“More better players means a better squad. Manchester had a big squad, it’s one of the biggest in the world.

“We know that great players will arrive all the time and I want to be one of those great players.”

Anderson started just nine Premier League games last season as the South American was forced to contend with a knee injury.

And the Brazilian insists he is desperate to be 100 per cent fit after a string of fitness setbacks in recent seasons.

“I just don’t want to have injuries,” he added.

“I want to train every day and play every game. I want to do my best for the team, want to play 90 minutes and not have to come off. To do that I need to be 100% fit.”
