Man United transfers: ‘Barca have no intention of selling Cesc Fàbregas’
Man United transfers: Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus says the club have no intention of allowing Cesc Fàbregas to leave this term
Barcelona have no intention of selling Manchester United target Cesc Fàbregas this summer, according to the club’s vice-president.
The Red Devils have made two bids for the Spain international but the La Liga champions are remaining firm in their stance that the midfielder is not for sale this summer.
United manager David Moyes has earmarked the 26-year-old as his number one target in the current transfer window..
However, Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus is adamant the former Arsenal captain won’t be quitting Camp Nou despite “real” interest from the Premier League holders.
“It’s a theme in sports. He has a contract, the club and the coach want him to stay,” Faus told Sport.
“Come on, he will stay. The interest is real. but we have no intention of letting him go.”
Faus did confirm Barcelona are looking to improve their defensive options, with Liverpool’s Daniel Agger and Paris Saint-Germain centre-half Thiago Silva both linked with the Spanish club.
“We will prioritise the economic issue. It [the bid for a defender] will not be influenced by economics but neither will we go crazy,” Faus added.
