Man United transfers: David Moyes was pleased to see Wayne Rooney get some playing minutes under his belt for England

David Moyes was pleased to see Wayne Rooney get some playing time under his belt after the Manchester United striker started England’s 3-2 victory over Scotland on Wednesday.
The forward, whose future has been a source of constant speculation in recent days as he continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea, played 67 minutes at Wembley as the Three Lions emerged victorious from the friendly.
And Moyes insisted that he was happy to see the 27-year-old given some playing time, despite the uncertainty over Rooney’s future.
“The important thing today was that he got some playing minutes,” Moyes told ITV.
“That bodes well for us. Hopefully it will start to get him ready for when he’s available and fit to play.”
Moyes added: “Everybody likes to see Wayne Rooney playing well. He has only played 45 minutes all pre-season so he needs games.
“He’s trained well [until he] picked up a couple of injuries.”
Chelsea are thought to have had two bids for Rooney rejected by United this summer.
