Man United transfers: Rooney is NOT for sale, Moyes tells Chelsea
Man United transfers: David Moyes reiterates that Wayne Rooney is not for sale this summer amid interest from Chelsea
David Moyes has once again reiterated that Wayne Rooney is not for sale – and insists he has not fallen out with the Manchester United striker.
The 27-year-old’s future has been a source of relentless speculation in recent weeks after Chelsea had two bids for the forward turned down by the Red Devils.
Rooney sat out Manchester United’s 2-0 Community Shield triumph over Wigan Athletic at Wembley on Sunday but has been included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad to face Scotland in Wednesday’s friendly.
But the United boss has moved to end the speculation over the forward’s future by saying that he has no problem with the former Everton striker and dismissing the prospect that he could leave Old Trafford this summer.
“I didn’t fall out with Wayne,” said Moyes. “He trained with the reserves by his own request. Anybody who wrote anything else was misleading their readers.
“I’m quite enjoying talking about Wayne because so many of you are getting it wrong. He will not be sold.
“I want him to join up with England. He trained with us yesterday but he’s not ready, you’ll probably see that on Wednesday. He’s had no football. He’s had no match action so you wouldn’t expect him to play for a long period. It will be great for United for him to get some playing time on Wednesday.
“He’s not for sale.”
