Álvaro Negredo says he is confident Manuel Pellegrini will bring an “attacking, risk-taking” brand of football to Manchester City.

The 27-year-old has previously faced Pellegrini’s side in La Liga before the Spain international followed the Chilean to the Citizens in a £20m deal this summer.

Pellegrini enjoyed success with Villarreal, Real Madrid, and most recently, Malaga, overseeing the La Liga outfit’s run to the Champions League quarter-finals.

And Negredo expects Pellegrini to set up his Citizens side to play attractive football.

“Every club he has left has been very happy with what he achieved,” Negredo told Manchester Evening News.

“At Villarreal he had some amazing seasons, at Real Madrid his one season was a very good one, and at Malaga despite having very little money and a lot of problems, they played very good football.

“The way the fans at those clubs all loved him shows what he is like.

“He plays attacking, risk-taking football with a lot of possession of the ball. All fans like that kind of football, so I am sure City fans will take to his team.”
