Arsenal responded to their shock opening-day defeat in the best possible fashion as they ran out 3-0 winners in the first leg of their Champions League play-off tie against Fenerbahce.

Four days after their shock 3-1 loss to Aston Villa, Kieran Gibbs gave the visitors the lead in the 51st minute before the impressive Aaron Ramsey made it 2-0 with a low strike.

Olivier Giroud then stroked home a penalty to give the north Londoners a commanding advantage heading into next Tuesday’s return leg.
