Pablo Zabaleta believes Manchester City are facing competition from six clubs for the Premier League title this season.

The Citizens made the perfect start to Manuel Pellegrini’s reign courtesy of an emphatic 4-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night.

City finished a disappointing 11 points behind reigning champions Manchester United last season as the Eastlands outfit proved to be the Red Devils’ only challengers.

However, Zabaleta, who penned a new four-year deal with City earlier this week, reckons Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur could all win the top-flight crown this term.

“One of our main targets for this season is to win the title back but we know how difficult it is,” Zabaleta is quoted as saying in Manchester Evening News.

“There is a long way to go but we are very positive. We have a very strong squad and obviously we will try to win as many trophies as we can.

“The battle for the title will be good.

“People are talking about only three teams but I do not agree with that.

“I think Spurs are a very strong team and also Liverpool are coming back.

“Then obviously Chelsea, United and Arsenal. Arsenal didn’t have the best start to the season but it is going to be a very interesting season.”
