Rafael Benítez has predicted a “more interesting” Premier League title race after a string of managerial changes at the top clubs.

The Napoli manager saw his side denied victory in their Emirates Cup opener after late goals from Oliver Giroud and Laurent Koscielny rescued a 2-2 draw for Arsenal.

Benítez led Chelsea to the Europa League trophy last season before the interim manager left and was replaced by Blues legend Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, Manchester United have named David Moyes as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor, while
Manuel Pellegrini has replaced Roberto Mancini at Manchester City.

And the former Liverpool boss is expecting one of the most exciting Premier League seasons yet.

“I think it will be more interesting because they have changed managers at the top sides,” said Benítez. “It’s just Arsene Wenger that has been at Arsenal for years.

“I think he has a good team and they know what to do. The other teams have very good squads and they have spent money but they will need to adapt to a new manager.

“I’m sure it will be interesting as always.”

Meanwhile, Benítez insisted he was unaware of how close Arsenal were to signing Napoli’s new striker, Gonzalo Higuaín.

“We were trying to sign Higuaín – we knew we could do it and the chairman was quick. I don’t know how his conversations were with Arsenal but it took two or three days and it was done,” added Benitez.
