David Moyes reflected on a “dream start” to his Manchester United career after watching his side seal an impressive opening-day victory at Swansea City.

Robin van Persie gave United the lead at the Liberty Stadium in the 34th minute with a stunning volley, before Danny Welbeck doubled their advantage when he tapped home from close range.

The Dutchman then made it 3-0 with a superb individual effort, before Wilfried Bony pulled a goal back for the hosts.

Welbeck then chipped in a fourth as Moyes made a winning start to his first league campaign as United boss.

“It is [a dream start] because you always want to win your games and as the manager of Manchester United, the job is to win the games. I was made well aware of that,” Moyes told Sky Sports.

“I thought Swansea had a lot of the ball but any team who comes here will find that. They pass the ball very well, they’re very well managed under Michael Laudrup.

“But we limited them to very few opportunities and at the right moment we scored a little bit against the run of play.

“We could have played better at times in the game but overall, I’m more than happy to win the game 4-1.”
