Paul Miller believes that Tottenham have what it takes to launch a serious Premier League title challenge this season.

The north Londoners have been busy in the transfer market since missing out on a top-four finish last season, with Spurs bringing in Nacer Chadli, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Etienne Capoue so far.

Tottenham are also reported to be closing in on deals for Willian and Erik Lamela as Andre Villas-Boas looks to assemble a squad capable of breaking back into the top four.

And former Spurs defender Miller believes that the Lilywhites must be considered among the top contenders for this season’s Premier League crown.

“We have got a good squad now,” Miller told talkSPORT. “The players that have come in look to be very good – seasoned pros that will have no problem adjusting to the Premier League.

“I think we can absolutely have a real challenge [for the title]. I don’t see there being an outstanding candidate to win the league this year.

“Obviously, the [Jose] Mourinho factor is going to make a big difference to Chelsea, but Manchester United are in the midst of change and, though Man City have got magnificent players, will they have too many good players? And Arsenal haven’t done much [in the transfer market].

“It’s going to be the same contenders and I think Tottenham are better than last year.”
