Tottenham transfers: Villas-Boas on Osvaldo and other signings
Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas rules out a swoop to bring Roma's Pablo Osvaldo to White Hart Lane this summer
Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out the possibility of Tottenham making a swoop to bring Pablo Osvaldo to White Hart Lane this summer.
The north Londoners, who won their first Premier League game of the season on Sunday as Roberto Soldado’s penalty handed them a 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace, have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old Roma striker in recent days.
However, the Portuguese coach insists that he has enough attacking talent at his disposal this season following the £26m arrival of Soldado from Valencia.
Villas-Boas told talkSPORT: “No [we are not interested in signing Osvaldo]. At the moment we are covered in the striker position. It’s not something we are looking at. If eventually we can look there are lots of interesting players out there.
The Spurs boss went on to admit that he is still looking to bolster his defensive options before transfer deadline day.
He continued: “At the moment we need to strengthen at the back but this is a decision we haven’t yet taken bearing in mind the development of a player like Ezekiel Fryers.
“This is a consideration we still have to make. We’ll keep monitoring transfers in and out and do our business when appropriate.”
