Tottenham transfers: Roma confirm Argentine Erik Lamela is set to join River Plate in a €30m (£26m) deal

Roma have confirmed Argentine midfielder Erik Lamela is set to join Tottenham Hotspur in a €30m (£26m) deal.
The north London side had been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old as Spurs talisman Gareth Bale edged towards a world-record £86m move to Real Madrid.
Lamela, who has been capped three times by Argentina, scored 15 goals in 33 Serie A appearances for Roma last term in his second season Italy’s top flight.
And i Giallorosso confirmed the playmaker is set to move to White Hart Lane in a deal which could potentially rise to €35m (£30m).
A statement from the Serie A outfit read: “AS Roma gives notice that it has agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for the outright sale of Erik Lamela for a fee of €30m.
“The agreement contains the recognition of a corresponding variable fee, up to a maximum of €5m, for bonuses linked to the player’s achievements of certain sporting objectives.”
Lamela scored 19 goals in 62 Serie A appearances after moving to the Italian capital from River Plate in 2011.
