Arsenal’s Wenger delivers update on Walcott and Wilshere
Arsene Wenger is hopeful both Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere will be fit for Arsenal's trip to Sunderland on Saturday
Arsene Wenger is hopeful both Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere will be fit for Arsenal’s trip to Sunderland on Saturday.
The pair both featured for England in the Three Lions’ recent World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine before returning to Arsenal training on Thursday.
Walcott was substituted late on in Kiev after appearing to pick up an ankle problem following a robust challenge from Olexander Kucher, while Wilshere was also taken off after the break.
But Wenger, who confirmed Tomas Rosciky is out injured after suffering a thigh strain with the Czech Republic, says the England duo are fit, and also hinted that new signing Mesut Ozil could feature at the Stadium of Light.
“[Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere] had light sessions today but they will be available,” said Wenger.
“There is a possibility Mesut Ozil will start [against Sunderland].We have lost Tomas Rosicky but everyone else should be available.”
