Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla out of action until October
Santi Cazorla will not feature for Arsenal before the next international break due to an ankle injury, Arsene Wenger confirms
Santi Cazorla is not likely to feature for Arsenal before the next international break due to an ankle injury, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
The Spain international was left out of the Gunners squad as the north London side sealed a 3-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday.
And Wenger confirmed that the playmaker will be missing for “a few weeks” after seeing his side move top of the Premier League table.
“Cazorla has an ankle problem,” Wenger said. “He will be out for a few weeks as well.
“I don’t think he will play before the next international break.”
Wenger also confirmed that striker Olivier Giroud, who scored the opener at the Stadium of Light, has picked up a knee problem.
“That’s my worry [that Giroud is injured], today, after the game,” he said. “We are very thin at the moment.
“It’s a knee problem. He is the player at the moment who we cannot lose.”
Aaron Ramsey scored twice after the break after Craig Gardner had equalised for the Black Cats from the penalty spot.
