Arsene Wenger insists he is not in a hurry to sign a contract extension at Arsenal.

The Frenchman’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season but reports emerged last week that the Gunners are keen to tie down the 63-year-old to a new contract.

However, Wenger, who has been in charge at Arsenal since 1996, said he is in no rush to sort out his future.

“We are not in a hurry,” said Wenger ahead of his side’s Premier League trip to Sunderland on Saturday.

“My contract finishes in June, it is September now. That is a long way to go. There is no need to plan, I want to do well for this club.

“At the end I will sit down and think how well I did with the team I had and that will be sufficient for me to say yes or no.”

Wenger also confirmed that new signing Mesut Ozil could start at the Stadium of Light.

He said: “There is a possibility Ozil will start [against Sunderland]. We have lost Tomas Rosicky but everyone else should be available.”
