Chelsea’s John Terry: Samuel Eto’o and Willian looking sharp
Chelsea captain John Terry says new signings Samuel Eto'o and Willian have both looked sharp in first-team training
John Terry has revealed Chelsea’s new signings Samuel Eto’o and Willian are both looking “really sharp” in Blues training.
Jose Mourinho snapped up Anzhi Makhachakala’s Brazilian midfielder Willian in a £30m deal from under the noses of Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Eto’o also joined on a free transfer from the Russian side in late August.
And Blues captain Terry is relieved to finally be fighting on the same side as the Cameroon international after their previous battles during the striker’s spells with Barcelona and Inter Milan.
“He’s looked really sharp in training so far, and so has Willian,” Terry told Chelsea’s website.
“You speak to them and they talk about how the intensity of their training [at Anzhi Makhachkala] is a lot different to how it is here, so for sure it will take them a few weeks to get their full fitness, but once they do they’ll both look very good.
“I said to [Eto’o’] ‘Thank God you’re here’ because I’ve had so many battles against him. He’s such a threat, he’s obviously a few years older but he still looks very sharp and hungry. He’s got an eye for goal and I think he’ll be a good addition, he was welcomed straight into the squad.”
