Fulham 1 Cardiff City 2: Martin Jol insists the Cottagers can do better after the Bluebirds netted a late winner
An adamant Martin Jol promised Fulham can do “a lot better” after Cardiff City netted a late winner at Craven Cottage.
The Welsh side had taken a 12th-minute lead when Steven Caulker headed past Cottagers goalkeeper David Stockdale from a Cardiff corner.
However, Fulham first-half substitute Bryan Ruiz levelled for the west London side with a superb solo goal before the interval.
But Cardiff’s Jordan Mutch netted an injury-time winner to seal three valuable points and leave Fulham just above the bottom three.
Asked about growing discontent among Cottagers supporters, Jol said: “We worked hard but we didn’t have the rub of the green.
“I’ll always be calm and I hate it when people are getting worried and nervous. I think it is awful when people ask a manager to quit.
“I don’t want to see this club be at the bottom of the table. I know we can do a lot better. I think we will be OK but this is a blow.
“Cardiff are not a team that are going to be in the top six and we have to win these games.”
