Hull City transfers: Bruce still keen to sign Arsenal’s Bendtner
Hull City transfers: Steve Bruce confirms Tigers are still keen on signing Nicklas Bendtner from Arsenal before Monday
Steve Bruce has confirmed that Hull City are still keen on signing Nicklas Bendtner from Arsenal – but admits the striker’s wage demands could prove a stumbling block to a potential transfer.
The Denmark international has not played for the Gunners in over two years following loan spells at Sunderland and Juventus and has been linked with a move to the KC Stadium in recent weeks.
And although Hull boss Bruce admits it will be “very difficult” to be able to tempt the 25-year-old into a move, he remains hopeful of a transfer before Monday night’s deadline.
“I’ve had him twice before and he did very well at Birmingham and Sunderland, but can we get him to come to us and can we afford him?” said Bruce.
“It is difficult for us. He plays for Arsenal and we have just come out of the Championship. We will see.
“It is very difficult but we will keep working at it and see what we can come up with in the next 48 hours – and then put an end to the madness which has been this window.”
Bruce’s comments come after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said that he expects the striker to stay at the north London club.
“The chance for him to leave now is very small and if he comes back well and gets fit, I will use him,” said Wenger.
