Jose Mourinho believes Willian will need some time to adjust to the rigours of the Premier League after joining Chelsea from Anzhi Makhachkala this summer.
The 25-year-old Brazil international signed a five-year deal with the Blues last week after being granted a work permit in a deal believed to be worth around £30m.
And Mourinho feels that the playmaker, who came close to joining Tottenham before opting to move to Stamford Bridge, will need to get some game-time under his belt before he is able to find his top form with his new club.
“Willian is a creative player and for his qualities, I think he needs a bit of time to express himself,” Mourinho told Chelsea TV.
“He is a kid that wanted very much to play for Chelsea and he was too many years in Ukraine and in Russia and now he has his first chance to be in a big championship.”
