Liverpool’s Luis Suárez is running out of chances, says Robbie Fowler
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler says Luis Suárez is running out of chances ahead of the forward's return from suspension
Robbie Fowler believes Liverpool striker Luis Suárez is running out of chances at Anfield.
The Uruguay international is expected to make his return to competitive action for the Reds against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup third round at Old Trafford after serving his 10-game ban.
The 26-year-old, who scored 23 Premier League goals, was slapped with the hefty suspension after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during a 2-2 draw with the Blues in April.
Fowler, who scored 183 goals in all competitions for the Reds, admits Suárez is phenomenal player and is optimistic the South American will have learnt from his most recent indiscretion.
“Without a doubt. He has let a lot of people down, including himself,” Fowler told BBC Sport.
“The club have stood by him, so have the Liverpool supporters, and you can see why because he is a phenomenal player and you want phenomenal players in your side.
“I know in the summer it looked like he was leaving and quite rightly Liverpool expected a bit of loyalty back off him and thankfully he is still a Liverpool player.
“I don’t think he’ll get many more chances but I don’t think he will be doing anything remotely as silly as he has.”
